There is no denying that Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 has been a massive hit for Sony and PlayStation. Insomniac’s Spider-Man(2018) sequel has garnered much praise from critics and players alike. Its critical success has also resulted in commercial success, with the game now having sold over 11 million copies.
Spider-Man 2 became the fastest-selling PlayStation Studios game in history just 24 hours after its release in October 2023. In the 24 hours since its launch, the Spidey sequel managed to sell an incredible 2.5 million copies.
Then in February this year, a mere 4 months after its release, SPider-Man 2 sales soared past the 10 million mark.
Now at a recent Business Segment Meeting, Sony has revealed that Spider-Man 2 has shifted another million copies. Its sales now stand at over 11 million units sold. Incredible.
Fans are hoping that Insomniac will announce DLC for Spider-Man 2 soon, possibly at tonight’s State of Play.
The Insomniac Games hack and subsequent leaks revealed that three free DLCs are possibly planned for Spider-Man 2. These included a Spider-Verse crossover mission and a Beetle mission. A while ago there was also a bug with Spider-Man 2’s title update patch that let players into a developer/debug menu. This menu showed a list of missions from a Beetle villain arc, which could be a possible DLC.
